RMFB has been setup to alleviate poverty. It aims to provide organizational, financial and infrastructural support to poor persons, particularly poor women, for mitigating poverty, and social welfare and economic justice through community building and social mobilization.

Poor people, like well to do, use financial services for many purposes and in different ways throughout their lives, but they are particularly vulnerable, since their income is small and unstable. Our objective is to have a sustained impact on poverty levels and well being of the borrowers.

In a nutshell, our vision is to assist in stimulating progress, prosperity and social peace in society, through the creation of income generating opportunities for the small entrepreneur whose phenomenal store of creativity and enterprise remains untapped for lack of capital.

The Bank provides loans to the poor who do not have access to formal bank credit because of lack of collateral or due to microscopic size of their enterprise.

We are focused primarily on

Empowering women to achieve economic and social emancipation.

Ensuring financial services at the bottom of the empowerment ladder.

Recognizing every single human being as a potential and creditworthy entrepreneur.

Providing basic training in micro-enterprise initiation; managing funds and savings concepts; simple book-keeping and accounting; economic and social strategies.

The Bank has so far disbursed loans of Rs. 144.033 million to 7487 borrowers as on 29-02-2008 with an average loan size of Rs. 26,332.

Our small loans have helped poor people who realize their potential in many ways and have been instrumental in contributing to broader social and economic development. It has allowed the poor people to improve their access to education, health services and better nutrition. The borrowers are required to give affirmation as follows:

I will be religiously dedicated to the achievement of respect and prosperity for self and family.

I will learn to write my name (any Pakistani language, including English) within the next 10 days (if not literate).

I will compulsorily send all my children of age 5 and above to school.

I will not allow minor children (under 15) to work for compensation, except in our own family trade/business.

I will ensure that my family and I drink boiled water.

I will not indulge in smoking, drinking or in any other unhealthy activity.

I will practice and promote a culture of ethnic and religious tolerance.

I will ensure that the size of my family remains within my financial resources so that I am able to provide them reasonably good education and social status.
